The new surge of VoIP customers is due to the increasing cable bills. Other alternative services that match VoIP are T1, T3 and DSL services. Although these services focus more on businesses than individual consumers, they at least provide the high speed connections and relatively low prices to attract customers.

I think VoIP is just hot right now. Word’s going around and you can’t beat the future possibilities. It’s cheaper than standard phone lines, and WiFi phones that can switch from cellular to wifi networks are going to splash into the scene soon. Cable packages are getting customers, too because of the convenience of all your bills in one, etc etc. VoIP is only going to grow.
