
Breaking social barriers, sex workers of South India have come forward to be part of the HIV/AIDA awareness campaign. The prostitutes of this region do not hesitate to make regular checks at a sexual health clinic. For which they are rewarded discount-shopping cards.
Such kind of project is vital for a country like India where 5.7 million people are living with HIV virus.
Shops and restaurants in the city of Mysore have now joined with them to wipe out AIDS, though they were very much reluctant to associate with them. Undeniably, it would further boost the morale of the sex workers.
If only this initiative was replicated throughout the country.
