I watched Shyam Benegal’s latest comedy movie ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’. The movie is excellent. I enjoyed it from my heart. In the last part of the movie, Vindya (Divya Dutta) is chased by the entire village when she strongly protests her marriage with a dog and runs away. Shyam Benegal tried to present a vivid picture of superstition prevailing in rural India.

Such a superstitious incident has popped up from Orissa.18-month-old Sangula, a tribal of Jajpur district married the village bitch. The marriage ceremony was performed at a Hindu temple with all the rituals observed at traditional weddings. The bride (village bitch) was decorated with bridal attire.
